Two practices, one fascination: nature, structure and visual storytelling.
I’m Jesper Krijgsman, a graphic designer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. My work spans two distinct practices: design that brings clarity to complex information, and digital art that explores the imaginative possibilities of nature.
After twelve years living and working in Zurich, I returned to the Netherlands in 2022. Today, I combine my independent studio with my work at Jaaf Information Design, while continuing to develop my own artistic practice.
My design work ranges from visual identities and editorial design to infographics and motion. My art is rooted in photography, combining elements of the natural world into detailed, dreamlike compositions.
Although the two practices have different aims, both are driven by a fascination with visual language, detail and the way images can shape how we understand and experience the world.

Nature has always felt like a world full of hidden wonders. I’m fascinated by the ingenuity of plants and animals, and by the beauty and complexity we can easily overlook in everyday life.
In my work, I bring elements of nature together to create imagined landscapes where biology and dreams meet. These worlds are not intended to depict a specific place, but to evoke a feeling: a sense of wonder, stillness and connection with something larger than ourselves.
Each work begins with photography. I collect my own images of flowers, plants and other natural elements, then combine them through an intensive process of digital composition. By working with these elements individually, I discover details in their shapes, colours and textures that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The process is deliberate and time-consuming. Rather than generating an image in a single step, I build each composition layer by layer, allowing it to develop until the different elements form a world of their own.
Through this work, I hope to invite people to slow down, look more closely and reconnect with the extraordinary richness of the natural world.
Born in Amsterdam in 1992, I spent twelve years living and working in Zurich before returning to the Netherlands. My experience across different studios and creative environments has shaped my approach to design, while my independent artistic practice continues to evolve alongside it.
My work has been exhibited internationally, and my art is represented by LUMAS Gallery.
